Simply being able to do this is a great pleasure, and is part of the philosophy we have built our studio around. Together, we have developed a non verbal language through objects and imagery which has taken time. Working with Steven and Bo has been really exciting because they have a completely different set of skills, a different language. You realise the beauty in how other people solve the unique problems of life. Through conversation, the pace at which we worked naturally slowed which, we think has led to the finished work being all the more special and considered." - @mitreandmondays - A new modular, community table will feature for the first time this weekend on the CIQ Square (opposite Site Gallery) as part of the ‘Out & About’ arts and cultural programme funded by Sheffield City Council’s economic recovery fund. Architectural duo McCloy + Muchemwa (Steven McCloy and Bongani Muchemwa) alongside Josef Shanley-Jackson and Finn Thompson of London based art and design studio Mitre&Mondays responded to a brief for a site-specific, multi-use piece of furniture which promotes community socialising and cultural activity in their first collaborative project Following the ‘Out & About’ programme of activity this summer, the table will be gifted to local creative and community businesses to be used in different configurations for their own public events.
