Not being tied down to any engagements this week is what my loved ones and I needed. The stillness we experienced was a reminder of how powerful nature’s energy is in revitalizing us mind, body, and soul. Western society has been encouraging us to “start new” at the mark of January 1st which is peak winter when all of nature is hibernating. Repositioning ourselves to take nature’s cues and remaining still until spring is the proper way to manifest new beginnings. The stages of refresh: 1. Drop your leaves. Shedding of all the old layers of yourself that you have outgrown. Slowly part ways with all the old habits which don’t suit you. 2. Hibernate. Lean into the stillness. Limit all the social events, limit being out and about. Spend more time immersed in nature - ie gardening, grounding. 3. Reflect. Journal, meditate, and sleep well. 4. Manifest new. Your body will be synced to the rhythms in nature and when springs arrives watch how every seed you planted in the winter comes to fruition. Other places in the world and their new years which begin in Spring: Hindu New Year April 14 Bengali New Year April 14 Thai New Year Chinese New Year I’m still in the process of learning more about these practices. Feel free to share your thoughts and knowledge below.
