COOL DOWN with Canadian art pop band @notabridalparty ✨ The band’s most stylistically refined and emotionally resonant work to date, their forthcoming Spring 2023 album is teased with the title single and video “Cool Down,” out NOW, which serves groovy, hook-forward songwriting that elevates lead singer Suzannah Raudaschl’s generous and emotional vocals. The single “makes danceable the feelings that come when the party's over and it’s time to go home... when you are feeling so joyful in community that you don’t ever want to leave.”
Formed in 2015 amidst Victoria, British Columbia’s vibrant DIY scene of experimental club nights and vibrant house shows, Bridal Party began as a sharing of songs between Raudaschl and guitarist Joseph Leroux. That effort culminated in the beachy, effusive ‘Hot Daze’ EP, ripe with lighthearted bossa nova and indie rock references, while alluding to the end-of-the-world deliriousness that the fire season was imposing on the west coast.
“Cool Down” is their first single drop since 2015, and Bridal Party are gearing up to release the new record into what “feels like a changed world.” To compose and record ‘Cool Down,’ the members of Bridal Party began by writing separately, only later to chop up and rearrange each other’s demos. “The goal was to create songs that were not limited to just one person’s imagination about what the song could be” says Leroux (this became a necessity when the global pandemic prevented the band from working out arrangements in their rehearsal space). The resultant record is precise in its joyfulness and cathartic. ‘Cool Down’ “speaks of interstitial moments, the pivot-points from which real change may emanate, and the deja vu that comes from realizing who one has always been.
