My friend Leah wrote me and said, “I’d never fully comprehended just how much making a film is an act of community organizing until last night.” My heart! To have so many people come together and watch @motherofcolorfilm was all I had hoped for. Thank you to everyone who has supported this years-long project as well as me, on my journey as a filmmaker. I feel held. I looked at my phone this morning and realized I didn’t take a single picture (even though I took a million photos with other people)! We’ll have images from our photographer soon, but in the meantime, maybe this photo of me the day before will suffice so I can also document my fancy blazer sewn by my mom’s friend Terri Lopez just for the occasion!
