Rescued tiger update: Mia and Lola continue to settle in to their new homes here at Oakland Zoo. Mia is doing a lot of chuffing towards Lola — a friendly sound that shows the bond between these two rescued girls is growing. In Oklahoma, Mia and Lola were kept in entirely separate cages with no chance of interaction. Now, they share a fence line, where they can check each other out and follow each other around. They’re both also exploring their new expanses of space they’ve never had before — platforms to climb, pools to dip paws into, and plenty of new sights, smells, and sounds to react to, including Zoo guests! We are taking action to prevent more tigers from suffering as Mia, Lola and so many other animals have by supporting the Big Cat Public Safety Act, which would end owning big cats as pets and stop cub petting, two major sources of big cat abuse. You can help us get this critical piece of legislation passed by urging your Senators to support this bill (link in bio*) 🐅🐅❤️ photos: Steve Goodall
