“Stumbling is evidence of momentum. This journey will not be perfect for any of us. But the real thing to fear should never be the stumbling forward, but the paralysis of standing still.” There is not space in this caption to talk about what it has meant to be on this journey alongside @aurorajames and the @15percentpledge team for the last two years. I wish I could say that we never had a phone call with a company or conversation with a person who thought that increasing the share of Black-owned businesses on shelves across America was controversial, unimportant, or even just too big a challenge to bother taking on. Instead I want to thank each and every corporate partner who has taken the pledge, and stepped into new territory, not necessarily with all the answers or all of the solutions, but with the willingness to commit to doing the best they can and using what they have to create a more equal world. Over the next ten years, as they work towards fulfilling their contractual commitments with the support of the Pledge team, 28 major retailers will put over $10 billion into Black owned businesses.
