And just like that, @weareunidosus came to an end. It was a great conference. Now, if I can talk a little about the company who’s invitation I accepted to attend this event. I am usually in the know in regards to what @walmart offers their employees. First, because I care and I am nosy about a companies corporate responsibility. Second, because it matters and we all need to know. As a large employer, they commonly will affect every community they move into. Here is what I do know, a few years back (2018) they launched an education program for their associates. Side note: funny I remember this because I heard about it first hand, my first reaction “oh really!” Anyway, they add other areas of interest to the program. By 2021 they go all in, offering full college tuition and paying for books to all associates the first day they are hired. Finally, this summer they launched another program. College2Career offers recent college graduates an opportunity into management positions through hands on experience and mentoring. This new program also includes current associates pursuing high demand college degrees a direct pathway to opportunities in their home office.
When I said I am nosy, I meant it.
