I’ve been Reflecting on international Pride month and what that means to me. Pride as a word has always signified a real sense of joy, ambition and achievement and that feeling of taking Pride in all you do and achieve. As an LGBT+ person, reflecting on this means a lot more and I think back to myself growing up, being creative, being different, struggling to be your authentic self no matter how things were I always felt a sense of pride. That has always carried through in my life, through work how I live. Now Pride means this and a lot more, a together ness, a reminder of the days where LGBT+ rights had to be fought for, a reflection of hiding behind windows painted out so we could feel safe, today we still have much to fight for, many things to do to feel safe and I feel a real sense of Pride with any achievement to help in every little way possible. What would I say to myself growing up - one day you will love the colours of the rainbow and that will be reflected in the work you do so it’s ok to be different. Today it’s more accepting for young people to challenge their own identity and with support be themselves but the fight of today is for them for the future not ours for today. 🏳️🌈 #pridemonth #beyourself
