RANT ⚠️We now pay £1,700 a month, which is over £20,000 a year for childcare costs 😳 what do you pay? Comment below ⬇️ let’s discuss this craziness! Let’s raise awareness! Share or tag a mama below Some people don’t even earn £20k a year. We earn good money, yet every month we have no money left to actually do the things we want to do! How mad is that? Why do we work to pay childcare costs? Let’s also not forget, maternity pay stops at 9 months in the UK, but you don’t get government funding for childcare until 3 years old + 🙃 ⭐️ For me this is about giving parents A CHOICE after maternity leave, to decide what they want to do vs what they have to do just for financial reasons! ⭐️ To prioritise parents happiness & wellbeing which provides a better environment for children growing up! Unhappiness & lack of purpose is a recipe for poor mental health & a huge amount of resentment which comes out in various ways! ⭐️ I believe the Government should heavily subsidise childcare costs under 3 like other countries do. To pay £1.7k a month, is criminal! The tax free childcare system is not enough! ⭐️ Working is an important part of life. it gives human beings purpose. Remove it & it has a huge mental & psychological impact ⭐️ i believe childcare should be capped at the cost when you start. It can’t just keep going up! unless there’s a a valid reason I.e. staff salaries need to increase ⭐️It’s unfair to take children out of environments they have settled into! For example we are looking at different options now because we cannot pay this monthly! There’s SO much more I want to say on this topic. It frustrates me so much. But I would love to hear your view & story below ⬇️ I want to work. I choose to work. I like working. It’s part of my identity. A career is something I’ve worked hard on for years, I don’t want to feel forced to give it up! I equally want to be a role model for Leo & show him worth ethic. I like that nursery & childminders do things with Leo that I would never ever do! My child is looked after & I am a bloody great Mum too! Honestly It should be reviewed & capped.
