legendary fashion designer and friend Katharine Hamnett - best known for her political t-shirts, overall activism and championing sustainability in the industry - was asked to take part in promoting the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations - the UN SDGs - to young people around the world. Myself and two of my favorite singers in this world - Ruby (12) and ?¿? (8) - surprised her with a song we recorded while quarantining to help support the cause. While our song mentions all 17 goals, we concentrated around goal 16: Peace, Justice, Strong Institutions and goal 4: Quality Education. @the.sdgs @theglobalgoals
i am aware that a lot of political systems in this world are corrupt - I still believe that we, the people, as a power of many, can change a leadership, a country, the world. knowing that our children are the next generation going to vote and to take charge, i am grateful to hear them shout “hey you! politician! if you don’t give us the world that we want, we will vote for someone else, someone new!”. I also believe that young people can start using the power of their voice long before they get the actual power to vote - their voices count. elections are coming up, please involve them in the process and start the conversation. because they are: voting soon!
The song is not commercially available but please listen to it on YouTube and watch the video. many thanks to our pro bono music and video team - it was all a true village effort. link in the bio. credits in caption. PS: the slogan shirts in the video are available at https://wearethefuturesdgs.com/ to help raise money for the United Nations Development Programme. @undp @katharinehamnett
