Some pro tip practices for Hand-Tied weft layering, stacking, folding, anchoring, and stitching.
-Layer, stack, and stagger your hand-tied wefts to build density and color placement in desired areas.
-Fold ends over and avoid cutting as this can compromise the lifespan of your HTW. As it is hand-tied and hand made, it can unravel. Use a weft sealer or waterproof super glue if so. You can also re-tie a triple knot for extra security if it happens too. Best tip- fold don’t cut.
-Give extra stitches to maximize the holds of the insulation such as: 🪡
•An extra lock-stitch on the first and last pocket to provide extra security to the corner. (Pro Tip- insert your C needle close of the edge as possible to avoid a flap.)
•An extra lock-stitch is also beneficial when layering overlapping/ a staggered end edge of a weft. This will secure it to the foundation more so.
• When hiding the beads, you can also throw an extra stitch in between the beads in no pocket. This will help attach & connect the bottom level underneath the foundation to the top level, on top of the foundation.
One amazing thing about wefts is there are soooOooo many ways to install them. Overtime with practicing you can really get advanced and specific with placementsand stitching!
Any questions, Drop them.
I hope one of these tips can be helpful!
