Every day allows me the opportunity to be more honest with myself. What ensues is a domino effect of interrogation. Honesty is a tutor to humility, humility leads the way to love, and love is and always becomes a portal to better. Yes, to whatever I need to improve upon. I accept that this is laborious. Self-awareness is not cute. It’s soul-work. It is finding my reflection in a mirror, on a mountain, in the eyes of a loved one or a lover and acknowledging when I am wrong. When my hands do not possess the dexterity that I believe them to have. So I study the lines in my palms. I kiss them softly. And persuade them to change paths. To turn a lesson into another skin. To shed. To prove that today is not an encore of yesterday.
