As the drought continues here, our teams are doing everything possible to manage available pasture and water. Recently, to reduce the pressure on the food in one of our endangered species enclosures, we decided to remove some herbivores that had dug and broken their way in. The exercise requires a lot of ranger expertise and patience. They dug up warthog holes and removed sections of the fence to allow for movement. A few hours in the hot sun later, the team moved 8 zebras and 12 warthogs out into the main conservancy The rhinos can now have exclusive access to the little pasture available, and we can save on supplemental hay as we continue to hope for the rains to come.
