“Vicarious Self Cannibalism” oil on primed linen. 16”x20”. 2022. commission. quite possibly the most fun i have ever had working on a commission. the fishies are a distorted version of Goya’s “Golden Bream”, and the character is “Ponyo” from the Ghibli film. treated this as a sort of study painting, working in roughly 3 layers of paint. the goal was not only to practice, but to also attempt to achieve the most accurate depiction possible while using the smallest amount of paint.
