Mt Adams- Klickitat I went up the hill twice in the last two weeks and got shut down both times due to weather. We’ve had a wild spring here so far and summer like weather started on the Solstice. The road is now open to the Cold Spring Trailhead. You can ski down really close to the parking lot. I’ve never seen so much snow from mid mountain up. Lunch counter is buried so be prepared to camp on snow until the honeycomb of windbreaks melts out. Also, the big boulders on climbers left of Piker’s Peak are not there, buried, so there is no place to hide from the wind. The upper half of the mountain is completely exposed to winds from all directions and North winds tend to accelerate around the mountain so expect higher than forecasted speeds. All rocks are buried so there is no where to seek shelter. Make sure you understand the weather forecast before headed up there and if wind speeds are 25+, expect very firm conditions and being an extra puffy jacket. Hit me up with any specific questions 🤙🏼
