On Wednesday, CAAAV members came together w/ the Astoria community to storm the Innovation QNS' 'town hall' to make our demand loud and clear: ✋🏼NO INNOVATION QNS REZONING! Astoria is NOT FOR SALE!🚫 For far too long, developers have used the rezoning process to turn our neighborhoods into their playgrounds. We don't want more luxury developments that price out our communities in Astoria and across Queens. So we will continue to organize & fight for our futures. Shoutout to @woodsideonthemove @astoriatenantunion @justice4allqns @westernqueensclt & community leaders that mobilized for this action & brought the fire this week. 🔥🔥🔥 After the action, CM Won (whose district includes the Innovations QNS site) publicly aligned with our call to oppose the development after we made it exceedingly clear that Innovation QNS has no place here - in our community or her district. Glad to see both CM @juliej_won & AM @zohrankmamdani align behind our communities! In 2018, Queens kicked out the behemoth that was Amazon, and we're ready to give Innovation QNS the same treatment.
