TONIGHT, September 22 at 6:30 PM at the Schomburg Center: Few books have been challenged by those who would seek to censor and ban works of art quite like the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Beloved. To honor the legacy of its author Toni Morrison—who was named an NYPL Library Lion in 1982, joined the Library’s Board of Trustees in 1985, and was named a Life Trustee in 2006—an all-star lineup of writers, actors, and thinkers will return to her indelible work with readings, performances, and conversations. Guests include vocalist and composer Alicia Hall Moran, scholar Dr. Imani Perry, Vice President and Executive Editor in the Knopf Doubleday division of Penguin Random House Erroll McDonald, author contributing opinion writer for The New York Times Kaitlyn Greenidge, actress Michelle Wilson, and novelist Robert Jones, Jr. Produced in partnership with LIVE from NYPL and part of The New York Public Library’s Banned Books Week Initiative.
