“A moment in time”...
A snapshot of my musical journey...
A break away from the chaos...
A shared experience...
Relief...
And so many other things.
This recital meant all of those and more.
More than a month ago I performed my graduation recital at Wilfrid Laurier University. I put my heart, learning, and hard work on display for my family and friends in my concert “A Moment in Time”.
With every passing note of this recital I felt more alive, nervous, excitement, and sadness. Alive, because all of my hard work over the last four years was paying off and I was able to share the fruits of that hard work with many important and incredible people in my life. Nervous, because it was the first time I had ever performed a solo recital and there were so many moving parts I prayed it would all go well (which it did, thank you tech and stage crew!!). Excitement, because of the new experience I was overcoming and the new chapter in my life and musical journey it was opening the doors to. Sadness, because even though I did not know it at the time, it was my last performance and goodbye to Wilfrid Laurier University.
Thank you to my studio professor Brennan Connolly for not letting a pandemic, varsity sports, broken thumbs, or anything else get in the way of my learning and my development. Thank you for the guidance, support, and knowledge you have shared over the past four years.
Thank you to my friends that have supported me through wins and losses over the past four years. And special shoutout to Keri Bailey and Louise Pilatan...literally could not have performed this recital without either of you helping backstage.
Thank you to everyone who attended either virtually or in person. Your support means the world to me. If you would still like to watch the performance, the link is in my bio.
