It represents good fortune, honor, longevity, peace, love and so much more. In traditional Japanese culture, it is also believed that folding one thousand paper cranes would allow one wish to be granted from the gods. This custom was inspired by the children’s novel, “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes” which takes place after the bombing of Hiroshima. Definitely a good read for the kids!
