Junior Ranger Day 2022
Overall we had around 50 junior rangers attend multiple stations including Animal Olympics, Touch Table, and Sand Painting to earn stickers for prizes. At the Animal Olympic station, junior rangers got to hop around like kangaroo rats and dig in the wet sand like the tiger salamander. A ranger let them discover different artifacts and rocks found at the park at the Touch Table. Finally, a volunteer led a sand painting activity where junior rangers used magnets to make pictures with the naturally occurring magnetite in the sand.
The junior rangers also participated in a self-led scavenger hunt while walking 1000 steps to earn a pedometer, patch, and Junior Ranger Day T-shirt.
Thank you to our Friends of the Dunes, volunteers, rangers, and most importantly our junior rangers for making today a total success.
