Front Yard Raised Beds pt.☝️
There is nothing that lights my 🔥 more than having a client that wants to grow food, but doing it in the FRONT YARD just about puts me over the edge 🥵
Once the client agreed to this project, I called @itsanadamadventure and we got to work. Adam is a very skilled wood worker and we decided on redwood for this job because of its rot resistant properties. It’s a beautiful red hue that will beautifully soften as it weathers
Each bed is 3x6 (pretty standard for most raised beds) and we laid hardware cloth on the bottom to prevent the gophers from digging in. It’s an extra step, and requires goooood gloves, but it is worth it 😬
With each frame made, we decided to build cap boards. The cap boards are the flat piece that rests on top of the bed, and not only does it look great, it can also serve as a seating area. We used a miter joint (cut at 45 degrees) and then sanded it down to make it smooth 😁
The next step was setting up our irrigation and adding our soil + plants, but I’ll save that for the next video 😋
How’d we do @encurtis? I’m coming for your job 😉
PS. The next phase of our work is going to be removing this front yard grass and planting drought tolerant aromatics like lavender and rosemary!
