How do we know recycled wool is low-impact? ⚠️ First, you need to know that #CircularEconomy is not always less impactful than the production of virgin materials, and this sometimes leads to #greenwashing claims and lack of transparency with final #consumers . However, there’s a way to measure real impacts and base claims on scientific data. ♻️ As we knew the supply chain behind our MWool® and its production processes, we felt the need of gathering them all and calculate their environmental impacts, also comparing them to virgin wool fibers. How? Through a Life Cycle Assessment! ✅ To put it simply, a Life Cycle Assessment is an analysis of a product’s entire life cycle in terms of sustainability. Every part or phase of a product’s life cycle – extraction of materials from the environment, the production, the use and the end of life – can all have an impact on the environment in many ways, so with an LCA, you can assess them all, or just a few of them, depending on your final goal and scope of analysis. 🔎 Our study, in collaboration with @politecnicoditorino, show that MWool® has significantly lower environmental impacts in comparison to virgin wool fibers.
