My decision not to participate in the Quartz testing at Pikes Peak is based on my opinion that this is not a sufficient drug testing program compared to @usantidoping and @wada_ama, which I am completely compliant with. In my opinion, our sport needs real drug testing, not a company parading as one yet only serving as a "health checkup". Quartz is ruining classic events globally by fooling race directors into buying into their "health" program, distracting them from actual drug testing that is necessary. Did you know if an athlete tested positive for a banned drug at this so called "health check" that this athlete would not be banned or suspended from competition? They could compete in a different race that very same weekend. This system is not protecting us as athletes. It's not preserving our sport and it sure isn't upholding true clean sport.
For clarification, I am in full compliance with all of the rules and regulations of the Pike Peak event.
As always, I am open to USADA and WADA testing (the Gold Standard for anti-doping). I have also offered to provide evidence that I do not and never have had a TUE. Also open to releasing my medical history showing this in addition to not using any anti inflammatory medication for over 1 year now. I have some concerns regarding the doping history of leadership at the Golden Trail Series and conflicts of interest issues as this health program is funded by a known footwear brand. Race Directors, you can do better and you can preserve our sport and keep the standards high by using your hard earned money with the most respected anti-doping organizations (USADA and WADA). Stand for something or fall for anything...
I understand this may ruffle some feathers but it is important to me that our sport progresses with better protocols to protect it against doping and conflicts of interests that may corrupt our sport.
