Today I had the honour of visiting Buckingham Palace to meet with the Queen, and also so many other inspirational women, at a reception to recognise those who support survivors of sexual assault. Today also marked the relaunch of Her Majesty’s Wash Bags project. This concept is such a powerful one (which I’m going to share more about on my stories), whereby sexual assault survivors are given a washbag full of essential items after they have bravely attended a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), which is a specialist forensic service for anyone who has been assaulted. SARCs have specialist staff that are trained to help you make informed decisions about what you want to do next, and I want to take a moment to thank the amazing people that I met today. Your passion for helping others, during a time where they have experienced trauma beyond comprehension, is simply inspirational. Thank you for all that you do. Her Majesty made a beautiful speech today, where she spoke about the “importance of kindness of strangers”. We should all take this motto forward, with all that we do. 🩷
