OLYMPIC BRONZE! Today has been amazing. I simply cannot describe how happy I am to win a bronze medal at @tokyo2020. (long post incoming) • 2 years ago I failed my last dive (backwards 3 and 1/2) in the final of the World Championships and that dive took away my chance of becoming a World Champion. For me, back and reverse spinning has always been so natural to me and to fail on such a big stage destroyed my mental health. My confidence, my self esteem and my anxiety around repeating those skills went through the roof. I was scared to go training and was kept up thinking about it night after night. Taking one step forwards and two steps back can only be done so many times, and for me it felt like I wanted to quit. For two years I have battled with those demons and today I feel I put them to bed. • With all the help and support around my diving from friends, family and support staff I have managed to achieve what seemed so distant for so long. Today I became me again. I couldn’t have done it without you. • This medal means more than anything to me.
