Myra Necropolis
Renamed Demre, it's a Lycian city of the dead carved into the hillside of Southern Turkey.
Dating back to the 4th century BCE, the rock-cut tombs line the hills above Myra’s famed theatre and the Church of St. Nicholas.
They are divided into two main necropolises : the ocean necropolis and the river necropolis and comprised of a mixture of house- and temple-style tombs
In the past, these structures were richly painted with shades of red, yellow, blue, and purple.
