@jessemockrin is best known for her dramatic paintings that put a feminist twist on baroque style and themes. But her current show at @jamescohangallery comprises more intimate, scaled-down drawings, on traditional Venetian blue paper, of young boys dressed for battle—what she called “a performance of masculinity,” inspired in part by her own preteen sons.
