Do you know your product budget? Swipe for some visuals ⬅️
If you don't but want to know what % you're currently spending on product, simply divide the amount of product you're using by the service total.
Example : $24.75 ÷ $275 = .09 (9%)
If you don't know how to calculate your cost of product, I have a new custom product calculator and overhead calculator bundle that will calculate your costs for you!

I recommend not going over 13% but if you're a luxury priced salon your budget can be as low as 5% and sometimes even lower.
Once you can calculate how much a product costs you can also create standard mixing ratios for each service.
The 3rd slide in my carousel is an example of some custom mixing ratios for services we offer at my salon.
Once you calculate these costs for each of your services you can then divide the total by the service price and figure out what percentage of the service is going to product.
But most of your service is to be within the same range but service with color and lots of toner are going to cost more than services with Lots of lightener.
If your product has a 1:1 mixing ratio you're going to be spending more than if it has a 1:1.5 or 1:2 mixing ratio because developer is significantly lower and cost per ounce or gram than color lightner and toner.
You can also visit my guide on product costs to learn more through the different posts that I've saved to it.
