I knew she was the one almost the moment the met. @rachel.pohl designed our wedding rings just a few weeks later. There's something to be said for those feelings that grab your attention, convince you of a direction, and moor you to an unshakable hope that life could be sweeter than you ever imagined if you choose bravery and intuition over fear. Four years we've been married, and six years since we entered each other’s orbits. • Life is being in a perennial state of awe of her brilliance and craft, commitment to self reflection and thirst to learn and grow, vision and kindness, patience and spirit. I call her my better 2/3rds because she is. Since we met we've been dreaming, making plans and chipping away at them. Growing gardens and making a home. Raising @mr.knute from a snowball with dagger teeth to an elk poop eating and hole digging champion. How can we predict how life will go? When we met and our hearts said what no words could. What next? Say yes to all of it. Yes to whatever saying yes to her and yes to this life would have in store. And so far, we continue to find happiness. Roots are growing and time is slowing because we are savoring it and training our minds to be aware that time is our most precious resource. Our biggest adventure yet is unfolding here in the Norwegian arctic. Like a garden, blooms come and go. We’ve practiced not hanging on too tightly to any particular one. We’ve practiced keeping our gaze fed by seeds planted months and years ago. One day they may sprout and fill up our world with a new vein of happiness. Invest in seeds. It's fall now. We sold our dream house this week, feel the heartache and sorrow of time now beyond reach. We are left with that stomach ache feeling of being somewhat adrift. So, we lean into courage and manifestation... we can see what’s next in our minds but these things take time, stubborn determination, humility and patience. Looking back on the past years from sitting beside her in the hospital praying things would be ok, to being camped out on a ridgeline with her and Knute, feeling content beyond words, I can say, I would highly recommend marrying your hero.
