No looking back. In my head, running through Champex Lac means the finish line exists. I know this isn’t always the case, but regardless, it is definitely a crux move of @utmbmontblanc. . I left the aid station relaxed and prepared for some painful kilometers ahead. I still held those memories from 2019 & 2021, needing to use my poles while walking down the last 3 big descents, legs threatening to fail me at any moment. But something changed this year and the sharp, debilitating soreness never came. I thought of all those winter days on skis and focused on my arms, pushing me uphill, keeping a rhythm. On the descents I could put my poles away and actually run (looking back at some video clips, my feeling of “fast” was a little different than reality 😂). . Up, down, up, down, I focused on taking care of myself- eat, drink, don’t do anything stupid. I saw @germaingrangier and my suspicion that he had stopped the race was confirmed. But he was there to cheer me on and I knew that I could still do something special for the team 👫 . The end is a blur, with too many familiar faces and some 🦖 cheerleaders.
