The Wednesday Society book no. 4, House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski. An almost unreadable labyrinth of a book, impossible to briefly summarize, and by far the most polarizing selection yet; rousing not only spirited debate, but actual violence (see exhibit 8) at an otherwise drastically-dignified meeting, fittingly held in a private room within the labyrinth of Magic Castle. Reviews exceptionally mixed, mine coming in at 3.5 out of 10 (with the admitted caveat that I only got through a quarter of the thing), while half the club now considers the book their new favorite work of fiction. Safe to say this book almost undid the club altogether, but alas, The Wednesday Society stands, stronger than ever, and ready for the next appointment.
