Coverage vs color - let’s talk about it ⬇️
Healed results from one session!
The most frequently requested thing I get asked from my clients is that they want it to be “natural.” Yet it is also the biggest complaint that I hear once their results heal. 🫣
It is really hard to understand what “natural” means to a given person. And what I actually find what a lot of people mean when they are talking about it being natural, is that they mean natural color - but not COVERAGE. 🎨
In order to notice a difference after getting the tattoo, you need to be able to see the tattoo. Whether that be in coverage or in color. Either way, the tattoo needs to be visible. 💉
There is a huge difference between color and coverage. I find that when the coverage is full - it actually looks unnatural vs when the color is more “tint” like in the skin and you see the tattoo pixels less. This has to do with pigment formulations and also how much pigment is deposited in the skin 💯
This client requested extreme natural color and was not comfortable going any bolder than her lipstick. I used light colors with titanium dioxide to create a full coverage, longer lasting, yet natural color result. To be honest, this is not something I typically enjoy doing as I don’t personally like the results as much but the results came out more beautiful than I had imagined. We both love it! 🌸
The more white you have in your pigments, in my opinion the more obvious your tattoo ends up looking, and the more you will see your tattoo in your lips. Most “nudes,” or colors that clients request typically have titanium dioxide in them. The less titanium dioxide you have in your pigment/tattoo, the more tint-like it will heal as far as coverage of the tattoo goes rather than more matte and cakey🕊
