Last week, a month after crashing in the Alps, I had my best week of paragliding in boulder ever! In a four day period, I set a new 156km front range out and back record, then the next day I broke the over all distance record from Boulder by flying 250km deep into Wyoming, on a new line that I had dreamed about for years. After a rest day, I managed the longest flat triangle aka out and back..by distance (closed by 20 not 5 percent for the paragliding dorks,) of 173k! Records are meant to be broken but I’m stoked to play a part in the history of Boulder paragliding! Coming back from my accident has been hard mentally, but I deeply love the outrageous freedom and adventure of paragliding, and for me the risk is worth the reward. Harnessing the power of nature to travel long distances through the air is such an outrageous adventure. Cast adrift in a thermal high above a massive landscape, completely at the mercy of extremely complex weather conditions gives me a feeling, of awe, insignificance, and gratitude that is truly spiritual in nature. I’m still not fully recovered from my crash, but every day is getting better and I absolutely got off easy in the grand scheme. I’m weirdly grateful for the accident which gave me so much appreciation for basic privileges like walking my dog @allterrainbernie ... eating a good meal with my one and only @nmilfeld ... and our awesome community here in Boulder. I’m very lucky to have the continued support from @thenorthface that makes my Peter Pan lifestyle possible! Big thanks to @ozoneparagliders for making the Zeno 2 which I flew for all 3 flights, and @fattire for the support and celebratory beers! Woohooo!!! 🍻
