In early December, I had a pretty sobering doctor’s appointment. I was the heaviest I had ever been in my life, and if I didn’t begin to address it, I was going to to have long term health implications. Those who know me well know I have struggled with my weight throughout my life, with large fluctuations up and down. But the past five years have been stagnant with a steady upward trend. So I decided to challenge myself. I made a goal of working out every day for 100 days in a row and to try and be smarter with the calories I consume.
Today, marks my 100 days of successfully completing my goal and I am so happy with my progress. The first photo was taken yesterday and the second photo is from a Chronicle photoshoot just days before I started my 100 day goal. I have lost 51.2 pounds so far, but more importantly I am feeling stronger and healthier. I have a long way yet to go, but I know I’m headed the right direction. I am super thankful for a few of my close friends who have been supporting me on this journey, you know who you are.
I have been trying to lose weight for the past few years and it always stalled. I hated how I looked and had low self confidence, especially when it came to my appearance. Slowly I’ve been learning to take better care of myself and been able to love the body I am in.
If you are trying to lose weight and coming from a place of hating yourself, it’s going to be so much harder. It’s not like I have championed this, but certainly something I am working on getting better at every day. The bottom line is, if you struggle with things similar to me, try and learn to be kind and loving to the person you see every morning in the mirror. Your attitude towards yourself matters, and the beautiful person staring back at you matters even more.
