This is my vexed face........I had hoped to be in Glasgow for a keynote speech at the inaugural Festival of Forums but even with the best laid out plans, things happen outside your control. Despite my morning train being cancelled because of a fatality, we were then told to go to Kings Cross to get a train to Edinburgh. When we got there the staff told us they knew nothing about this and the train companies needed to agree a deal so wouldn't let us through. Anyway, eventually that was resolved only to be told that the next Edinburgh train was full so we could not get on it even if we were prepared to stand.
Subsequently went back to Euston as told there was a 11.30 train to Glasgow Central. One of my good moves was going to the platform before it came up on the board as I knew there would be a stampede and not everyone would get on. Just as I was starting to relax in my seat, got a call from my agency saying my train would not reach Glasgow Central as there had been another incident on the train. They knew more about the situation than people on my train as there had been no tannoy message saying our end destination had changed to Warrington. A huge shame I did not get to speak at the festival.
Welcome to the harsh reality of putting on events. Whilst on the outside you can look calm and graceful even when you are ferociously paddling with your feet underwater trying to keep afloat...🥵😜😤
