Whew. Black Science Fiction Juneteenth celebration was definitely one for the BOOKS. Thanks to all and everyone who poured into this process. Thanks so much for supporting these big ideas and allowing a lil KY boi the ability to dream and execute. Cannot even let this go by without acknowledging tribe and community who helped gather and put this together. Shoutout India, Amani, Sam, Jefferson, Kalyn, Kirk, Abdul, Maliyamungu and Ziiomi for literally being the backbone of helping this happen! From equipment arrangement to set up, and breakdown I am so grateful to have y’all. I didn’t get to take a ton of photos or video of the crowd but would you believe that we had over 100 folks in the space at some point? Shoutout Tru and Bryce for keeping the crowd rocking all day at all stages! Shoutout Sélène for coming from New Orleans to be part of this, shoutout to Duendita, Omololu, and Toyosi for blessing us with their words and sounds, shoutout to Ouli for starting the fire and keeping us warm and for all of our lovely vendors who came through to share and exchange parts of themselves with everyone!
