Watching our @bottletopofficial collaboration with @prabalgurung hit the runway at NY fashion week was a surreal moment. This meant a lot to us and to the incredible women on our team working as artisans in Nepal. My bro @freds15 and I visited Nepal in 2016 to hike to the base camp of Mt Everest and we quickly fell in love with the open hearted people, the rich culture and the Himalayas. We committed to support a local NGO in Kathmandu through called @rokpa_international which many of you kindly supported. After the hike we discovered that they had a small workshop supporting women to make accessories. We were totally inspired by their work and the funds we raised paid for sewing machines and other basic equipment. I knew at that moment that we needed to partner with Prabal Gurung. Prabal is a rare soul. He is a fashion icon, bursting with raw talent, but he is also a truly kind and sensitive person who uses his voice and platform with precision to address the social and environmental issues that he cares about and he does incredible work on the ground in Nepal through his foundation. Eventually we met in NY via mutual friends and started exploring ideas together. As we experimented with different design concepts we discovered the incredible talent for beading work at @maitinepal; an NGO that rescues women from human trafficking. There is a beautiful story behind the journey of this collaboration and the designs themselves which we will share in time but for now I want to thank everyone who generously supported our original fundraiser - you enabled us to plant those seeds and are part of this. A huge thank you to Prabal and everyone at Prabal Gurung and to everyone from our team for working so hard for so long to introduce this new vision for conscious, sustainable design here at NY Fashion Week.
