Though an obviously traumatic experience, Humphries’ life changed for the better. We caught up with her to talk about her finding inspiration through Joni Mitchell and Alanis Morissette, the impact she wants her memoir “Why Did You Stay?” to make, and her dream of wishing she had the chance to play a certain character in “The Sopranos.” “I thought, truly, if I left, my life would only be worse. That’s why, for a long time, I didn’t. And actually, the second that I left, that’s when I really started living.
