Homeownership is a good way to build equity and wealth Home equity accounts for over half of one’s net wealth. However, Black homebuyers face the discriminatory market even after achieving homeownership—in home appraising.
Beyond Dr. Nathan Connolly and Dr. Shani Mott, whose story recently caught public attention, There are many stories of racial discrimination in home appraising both publicized and unpublicized. Inequities in homeownership drive inequities in wealth. The racial wealth gap is a racial discrimination issue.
