Member Spotlight✨ Today’s feature is Justine Sterling! She is the principal designer and owner of her interior design studio based out of Stoneham, Mass. Please give a warm welcome to today’s member spotlight! • Education: 3-year Interior Design Diploma, 1990 from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa. • Past career: 34 years going strong in Interior Design! I started in corporate and hospitality interiors in Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa before moving to the US in late 1998. I then began working in the Interiors department at Elkus/Manfredi Architects in 1999 in Boston for 8 years, before starting my own firm in 2008. • Current Career: Founder and Principal Designer at Justine Sterling Design, specializing in residential interior design. • What you like about the industry: Interior design has been my world for as long as I can remember. But when I started my firm 16 years ago, I embarked on a whole new journey—learning how to run a business while serving my clients at the highest level. That challenge and growth have been what keep me passionate and engaged in this industry. • Why did you join IFDA: I enjoy connecting with both familiar and new faces, and IFDA provides a fantastic platform to engage with fellow designers, architects, builders, and industry professionals. As the owner of a boutique design firm, staying current and actively involved in the trade is essential. IFDA offers incredible opportunities to learn, grow, and stay connected. Favorite Things! - Food: Grilled Calamari from many Cape Town restaurants. I have never had calamari cooked like that anywhere else in the world. - Travel: Greece or Cape Town - Song: Sting’s “Fields of Gold” - Sports Teams: I am not a huge sports team fan, but I am a fan of watching my kiddo’s play school sports – baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey. - Something Fun about you: I am not great at losing to backgammon at the hands of my teenagers, but I seriously love the game! - Favorite Book: Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara Go check out her awesome IG page & give her a follow!
