When your past reminds you of who you were always meant to be… and then hands you proof in the tiniest, most unexpected way…
After opening a long tucked away piece of my childhood, I found a forgotten rug my grandmother painstakingly needlepointed for my dollhouse in 1998. Her initials stitched down the side. My very first “Paloma Home rug,” handmade decades before I’d leave my career to follow this path.
This dollhouse came back to me this week—three decades after I wallpapered it, sanded the floors, wrapped the wiring, and hung curtains with the seriousness of a child already dreaming in rooms and color palettes.
And on my 40th birthday, the year I left my corporate job to chase the dream quietly forming since I was little, this little heirloom resurfaced… bringing with it pieces of the people and stories who have shaped me.
The hopes and dreams of generations before us don’t disappear—they wait. They linger in the things we touch, the traditions we inherit, the love that gets stitched, literally, into the smallest corners of our lives.
We’re gifting this dollhouse to Isla for Christmas. Not because it’s new, but because it carries a history. A story that now becomes hers.
This is what Paloma is built on: preserving beauty that lasts, honoring the hands that came before, and creating heirlooms meant to be held, loved, and carried forward. 🤍✨#grandmillennialdecor #grandmillennialhome #grandmillennialstyle #oushakrug
