In the beginning, I was lazy about washing my paintbrushes. I would let the paint layer, dry out and crust. It would then be extremely difficult to wash out and sometimes would even throw away the brushes and opt to buy new ones. Now, I set aside a designated time each week to wash my brushes. I am patient and I pay attention. They come out looking brand new and then are ready for a new week of painting. The cycle continues. I like to use this analogy to parallel how we approach our emotions. If we did not put in the time and effort to care for our emotional well being, the hurt and trauma would only build up layer by layer until it is unbearable and become an obstacle from functioning. If we take the time and put in effort to heal, we would peel back all the layers of pain to find our authentic self. Ready to experience the world. The cycle continues. #FongMinLiao
