Two years ago this Sunday, Stephen led me and Erika in a beautiful ceremony blessing every doorway, room, nook, and cranny of our beloved newborn baby, 2,000sqft of healing arts space. On the parade route. Pride weekend. While we laughed and cried (and cried. I mean c’mon it was us, look at those three glorious laugh/cry faces for the receipts) and meditated and envisioned the welcoming and the presence and the healing that would take place in these walls, Pride raged raucously, joyously, outside. And inside — our windows vibrated with the bass. When people enter this office, they often comment on how they feel an energy shift, that it’s a calming, grounding, and uplifting secret space hidden behind ordinary looking doors in a kinda weird building on a regular New York street. That is and may be, but bts over here, I also know into the walls, braided with our prayers for flow, and ease, healing and grace, were the cheers and laughs and tears and grace of thousands of people reaching us 5 floors up, cocreating the unique note this space makes. I thought at the time, and still think now every time I walk in the door, no accidents. Welcome home. I am meant to be exactly here, as I am.
