🐣 SAN hosts more than planes and travelers during the spring and summer months. It’s also the breeding ground and birthplace of an endangered migratory bird called the Least Tern. They’re born in the spring at SAN every year, and SAN takes extra effort preparing the grounds for them while employing the expertise of consulting biologists and staff help from our environmental affairs department. Even though warming ocean temperatures have thrown off fish spawning patterns, which in turn affect the Least Tern’s migratory patterns, SAN saw 10 nests and 9 - 12 chicks hatch this season.
