Growing up in her mother's hair salon, Jaimaican-British hair stylist @cyndiaharvey was always attracted to the tactility of hair. Today, her work, which includes collaborations with @fkatwigs, #FrankOcean and @kendricklamar, explores the psychological, political and expressive power of hair. For 'MIRROR MIRROR', she has created a collection of custom-made wigs, bringing to life the classic tailor's dummies on which they are displayed. “When MoMu approached me to create a collection of custom wigs for their 'MIRROR MIRROR' exhibition, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with an institution who have exhibited pieces of some of the world’s most prolific artists and designers. The key theme of the exhibition, ‘interconnections between fashion, psychology, self-image and identity’, is also often a theme at the core of my own work. Many iterations later, through a culmination of months of creating, strengthening, and challenging my practice, I feel the result of our collaboration is something truly thought-provoking.
