🇬🇧👗I’m headed to my very first London Fashion Week in just two short weeks! This news is so new-to-me that it still doesn’t feel real yet, and so I can barely articulate how excited I am by the opportunity — pinch me! 😭 Plans are still developing so STAY TUNED but so far: + On Saturday, September 17, I’ll be speaking at the London Design Festival at the V&A, about community organizing and @remakeourworld’s work fighting for fair pay and climate justice in the fashion industry. 🎤 + And on Sunday, September 18th, I’m co-organizing a ‘Secondhand September Tour’ of London vintage & thrift shops with our @remakeourworld Community Organizers, @rebeca_dallmaier and @kendal___eline! 🛍🙌 More to come, but if you’re London-based I would love, love, love to meet you so mark that date! 🗓 Also, let me know your vintage must-dos, because IMPORTANT SHOW RESEARCH will go down! 👏🎤 And for a bit of fun, swipe ➡️ to see baby Em the last time I was in London, over ten years ago: I spent a month that summer backpacking around the country, 🎒apparently browsing vintage shops, napping in parks, and definitely reading a lot of Jane Austen novels. 📖 And if you had tried to explain to me-then why and how I would be returning this year I’m not sure I would have believed you. 🤯 My only ties to the fashion industry back then were 1) my love of thrifting 👗 and 2) my student capstone research on labor organizing efforts in Iowa’s garment factories 📢 ... oh, wait, it actually does all kind of make sense now that I think about it all together!
