Nearly 3 years in the making, it is with deepest honor that I finally get to share images with you of our “Museoexclusion Exorcism” piece for Hella Feminist, opening today at @oaklandmuseumca Oakland Museum of California Art. Made in collaboration with 29 femme and femme-identified contributors who gifted the piece with the power of their stories, artworks and objects whose femme centered narratives museums usually exclude. Originally made as an amulet to aid in exorcising harmful patriarchal energy from OMCA in 2020, the piece was installed the week Roe was overturned... It now stands as a generator, teacher, messenger. Centering the struggles of my femme sisters as a mirror for society to reflect upon, and energetically focus and direct our demands for equality in every space— emotionally, cosmically, physically.
