Our program with @foodeducationfund would not have been possible without Naomi Lawrence ( @buck_ets_ ) and Nate Cox ( @n8.cox ), the chef educators who guided FEF’s students through the open-air fires of the outdoor kitchen and the wholly immersive process of executing a traditional Eritrean menu. Naomi spearheaded the recipe development and curriculum of the day while Nate enriched the process and day’s work with his knowledge of the cultural importance of the ingredients and dishes they taught FEF students to prepare. These two culinary polymaths are incredibly gifted educators and taught the FEF crew with levity and grace to create an authentic camaraderie that allowed for education to flourish in the kitchen classroom.
