I don’t really know what to say, and If I did I don’t know how to that could make this any easier. I’m sure everyone and many who knew George as a friend or Cherry as a queen feel the same pain many of us are experiencing right now. I had known of this one a long time before drag race, someone who I admired but also feared as a fierce queen in Manchester, however getting to know her during filming was only short and with George being on the front line working in the health sector for covid we never got a chance to really bond until finally doing the drag race tour in January. From this moment we became best friends, George and Georgio! It was like I’d known her a life time, someone I’d party late with on the bus, would make me laugh everyday, hold my hand through a breakup and also be my biggest fan! I’ve never met anyone in my life who was more kind, more genuine, more caring who you could tell had so much time to give not because they had to, but because they wanted to! From after parties at mine after every night out, sleeping over and waking up to your full face in my pillow and stencil brows stuck to your hand, it’s the small memories of endless tequila shots and pulling off each others wigs that I won’t ever forget! I can feel your long spiked fingernails digging into my hand as they are held just thinking about this! The last time I saw you after the Bowie premier you apologised for being distant and I stopped you, because I could see something wasn’t right, and instead you kissed me and I gave you a dirty look they way we do and said ‘don’t ever leave me on read for 4 weeks ever again missy’ and we made that promise! And so now I can’t leave you on read, but what I can do is read your story now to the world! This will be my continued promise I’m writing this as a love note to Cherry but a very bad one at that as I can’t really get my head straight, but right now I need some time and want to know how best to move forward for Cherry & George! If anyone can learn anything from this it’s to please check in on people especially the ones who seem the strongest and most importantly to be kind! Cherry loved to love, so spread it! ❤️🍒
