A few of my favorite moments from the “Cruel” music video with the big dawg, @jacksonwang852g7 . I wanted to develop movement that would specifically ONLY exist in this universe that we created. Something that wasn’t quite dance, per se, and wasn’t quite full on fight-scene-out-of-a-Marvel-movie, either. Going the extremes in either direction didn’t feel right for the story we were trying to tell. Almost a teetering line between the two, the movement landed on something that should feel animalistic in nature, yet playing with the ideas of attraction, infatuation, and at times- hateful rage. I also wanted to give a commandeering persona and body language to the Queen character (who was played by @baileysok , and executed beautifully), and have her feel like she had abilities, powers, and stature beyond her acolytes. This whole process was overall super fun and exciting to choreograph and create with an incredible team. Thank you Jackson, for giving me the opportunity to flex the right side of my brain. We made it come to life, brother. I’m happy to be able to assist you in the one of your thousands of ideas 😂 To the director, production, wardrobe, management- it was an absolute pleasure of an experience, even on the long days of shooting. I’m a fan. Everyone felt dialed in to what they set out to do. It was amazing seeing all the cogs work together to run this machine. Teamwork makes the dream work.
